Your health is an essential part of your life.

Almost everything you do has an impact on your health. From your diet to your lifestyle, from your work to your sleep cycle, your health is affected by everything. But did you know, even something as small but as significant as breathing has a major contribution to your health?

Here’s a breathing technique that will act as your health booster in just a few minutes.

Nadi Shodhana is one of the most fundamental breathing techniques of yoga and involves 3 stages. You begin by sitting straight, preferably cross-legged, on the floor.

In the first stage, inhale gradually through the left nostril, while keeping the right nostril closed.

The second stage requires you to hold on to your breath for a few seconds.

In the third stage, exhale slowly again through the right nostril, while keeping the left nostril closed.

Now, repeat the same process again but by beginning with inhalation through the right nostril, to complete one cycle. In the beginning, you can do this controlled breathing practice for 2 minutes and then slowly graduate to 15 minutes to avail its benefits. When practiced regularly, alternate nostril breathing reduces stress, anxiety and improves the functioning of your heart and lungs.

All of this and you know what’s the best part? This exercise can be easily done quickly from anywhere at any time. With SBI General’s new initiative #7MinutesToGoodHealth, we’re pushing all boundaries to provide a healthier tomorrow for the nation.

Come, join the revolution.
